About Us
We believe survivors. We count them.
The Jane Doe Collective exists because the official record is incomplete. We built this platform to fill the gap — one story at a time.
Our mission
Sexual violence is one of the most underreported crimes in America. Official statistics capture only a fraction of what survivors experience. The Jane Doe Collective is a survivor-led data initiative dedicated to building a more complete picture of sexual violence in the United States — through the voices of those who lived it. We use that data to advocate for policy change, support researchers, and remind every survivor: you are counted.
How we started
The Jane Doe Collective was founded by survivors who were frustrated by a simple truth: the data used to shape policy didn't reflect their reality. Official crime statistics depend on reports to law enforcement — but most assaults are never reported. We asked: what if survivors could report directly, anonymously, and on their own terms? This platform is the answer. Every submission is a data point. Every data point is a person. Together, they form a record that cannot be ignored.
How we collect and use data
Anonymous submission
Survivors submit their accounts through our secure form. No name, email, or identifying information is ever collected or required.
Human review
Every submission is reviewed by a trained moderator before it is approved and added to the public record. We do not publish submissions that contain identifying information.
Aggregated analysis
Approved submissions are analyzed in aggregate. Individual stories are displayed publicly only with the survivor's implicit consent through submission.
Policy advocacy
Our data is made freely available to researchers, journalists, and policymakers. We publish regular reports and share findings with advocacy organizations.
Our privacy commitment
We collect no personally identifiable information. No name, email, IP address, or device fingerprint is stored with your submission.
Submissions are stored securely and reviewed only by trained moderators.
We will never sell, share, or monetize your data.
You may submit your story and request its removal at any time by contacting us.
This platform does not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics that could identify you.
